I watched an episode of the Culture Show recently which profiled Thomas Heatherwick. He’s incredibly playful with his ideas and most certainly utilises blue sky thought in his practice. Its make wildly impossible ideas come to fruition. As a result of this mindset he has absolutely massive plans to create a “garden bridge” across the London Thames. He has collaborated with Joanna Lumley and dreamed up a huge idea that he hasn’t been afraid to present.
It is the ultimate statement about greening a city. It’s a place to get lost in, to wonder around in, to dream in. It brings up the essential topic of creating an atmosphere and experience for people.
